Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
