The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
