The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
