Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
