The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
