To the Thamud people (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren: He said: "O my people! worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a clear (Sign) from your Lord! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign unto you: So leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and let her come to no harm, or ye shall be seized with a grievous punishment. 73 And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." 74 The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." 75 Those who were proud said: 'We disbelieve in that which you believed in' 76 Then they hamstrung the she-camel, disdainfuliy disobeyed the commandment of their Lord, and said: 'O Salih! Bring upon us the scourge with which you threatened us if you are truly a Messenger [of Allah].' 77 So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them in their habitation fallen prostrate. 78 Then he turned away from them and said: O my people I did certainly deliver to you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice, but you do not love those who give good advice. 79 And We sent Lut – when he said to his people, “What! You commit the shameful acts which no one in the creation has ever done before you?” 80 Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people." 81 The only answer given by his people was, "Turn them out of your town. They are people who regard themselves to be pure." 82 So We delivered him and his followers, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
