Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
