Mary (Maryam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Kaf-Ha-Ya-A’in-Sad. (* Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah and to whomever He reveals know their precise meanings.) 1 A mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya. 2 When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret, 3 He said: O my Lord! verily the bones of me have waxen feeble, and the head is glistening with hoariness, and have not yet been in my prayer to thee, my Lord, unblest. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 "Who shall inherit me, and inherit (also) the posterity of Ya'qub (Jacob) (inheritance of the religious knowledge and Prophethood, not the wealth, etc.). And make him, my Lord, one with whom You are Well-pleased!". 6 (His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before." 7 He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" 8 Answered [the angel]: "Thus it is; [but] thy Sustainer says, 'This is easy for Me - even as I have created thee aforetime out of nothing'". 9 [Zachariah] prayed: "O my Sustainer! Appoint a sign for me!" Said [the angel]: "Thy sign shall be that for full three nights [and days] thou wilt not speak unto men". 10 Then he came forth unto his people from the sanctuary, and signified to them: Glorify your Lord at break of day and fall of night. 11 To John We said, "Hold fast the Book," and while he was still a child, We bestowed upon him wisdom, 12 and a tenderness from Us, and purity; and he was godfearing, 13 And kind to his parents, neither arrogant nor disobedient. 14 And peace is upon him the day he was born, and the day he will taste death, and the day he will be raised alive. 15
