The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers, 1 those who, in their Prayers, humble themselves; 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 Who strive for betterment; 4 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 5 Except from their wives and women slaves of old are free of blame, 6 So whoever desires more than these two – they are crossing the limits. 7 And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive 8 And who pay heed to their prayers. 9 These will be the heirs, 10 Heirs of Paradise, they shall abide in it forever. 11 We created the human from an essence of clay: 12 Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 After that you shall surely die, 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. 17 We sent down water from the sky in due measure and lodged it in the earth, but if We please, We have the power to take it away, 18 We have produced palm-groves and vineyards for you, in which there are abundant fruits for you; and you eat these, 19 We have also created for you the tree that grows on Mount Sinai which produces oil and relish for those who use it. 20 And indeed in the cattle is a lesson for you; We give you to drink what is in their bellies, and there are many benefits for you in them, and in them is your food. 21 You are carried by the animals on land and by the ships in the sea. 22
