Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 till the appointed time. 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
