Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
