Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
