Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
