Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
