۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
