The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
