۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
