The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
