(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
