Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
