The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the mount. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
