I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
