The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
