Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
