Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
