Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 They used to say: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
