The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
