The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
Almighty God's Truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
