۞ It is He who created you from a single cell, and from it created its mate, that you may live as companions. When the man covered the woman she conceived a light burden and carried it about. And when she was heavy (with child) they prayed together to their Lord: "If You bestow a healthy son on us we shall truly be grateful." 189 But when He giveth them a goodly child, they ascribe to others a share in the gift they have received: but Allah is exalted high above the partners they ascribe to Him. 190 What, do they associate that which creates nothing and themselves are created, 191 And the false deities are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you invite them to guidance, they will not follow you; it is the same to you whether you invite them or you are silent. 193 Verily those whom ye call upon beside Allah are creatures like unto you; so call on them, and let them answer you if ye say sooth. 194 Do they have feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, “Call upon your ascribed partners and conspire against me, and do not give me respite.” 195 Lo! my Protecting Friend is Allah Who revealeth the Scripture. He befriendeth the righteous. 196 whereas all those whom you invoke in His stead are neither able to give you succour nor can succour themselves; 197 If you call them to guidance, they will not hear you. You see them looking towards you, but they cannot see. 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 If a suggestion from Satan assail thy (mind), seek refuge with Allah; for He heareth and knoweth (all things). 200 Verily, they who are conscious of God bethink themselves [of Him] whenever any dark suggestion from Satan touches them - whereupon, lo! they begin to see [things] clearly, 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless. 205 [The angels] who are near to Your Lord, never turn away from His service out of arrogance; they rather glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
