And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
