The Thamud belied the sent ones 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 'I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 So fear Allah, and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 Thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! Come, then, forward with a token [of thy mission] if thou art a man of truth!" 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
