Elucidated (Fussilat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Indeed for those who believed and did good deeds, is a limitless reward. 8
