And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
