The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
