The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
