In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
ALIF LAM MIM. 1 THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, full of wisdom, 2 a guide and a mercy for those who do good, 3 for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. 7 The righteously striving believers will enter Paradise 8 where they shall live for ever. The promise of Allah is the truth; He is the Almighty, the Wise. 9 He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. 10 This is God's creation; now show me what those have created that are apart from Him! Nay, but the evildoers are in manifest error. 11
