Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
