Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
