The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
