The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
