Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In high empyrean 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 nor any food save the filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
