The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
