The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 of an orphaned relative 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
