And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
