The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
