Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
