And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
