The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the swollen sea 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
