The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
