The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They said, 'Surely unto our Lord we are turning. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126
