The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
